NOTARO NOTCHES A WIN
Phyllis Notaro of Brant, New York, showcased a brilliant performance at the 1961 BPAA All-Star Tournament held at the National Orange Show Exhibit Hall in San Bernardino, California. In a field of 96 women, Notaro won with a total of 6,288 pins, which was nearly 200 pins over the second-place finisher, Hope Riccilli. Notaro’s success at the 1961 BPAA All-Star Tournament added to her remarkable bowling career, which included three other top-10 finishes at the event and multiple appearances in the World’s Invitational Tournament finals. With 55 participations in the United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships, her final appearance occurred in 2004 in Wichita, Kansas. Her outstanding achievements earned her induction into the USBC Hall of Fame for Superior Performance in 1979, as well as a place in the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.
