SPERBER’S SINGLE-PIN WIN
Date: 1971
Paula Sperber (second from left) and June Llewelyn (middle) proudly showed off their 1971 U.S. Open trophies. At just 20 years old, Sperber won a thrilling U.S. Open, as only one pin separated her from Llewelyn for the victory. Sperber’s remarkable achievements continued as she was honored with the 1971 BWAA Bowler of the Year award, won the U.S. Open again in 1975 and was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1994.
