A RECORD GAME FOR THE BUDS
Date: March 12, 1958
The Math Hermann team’s record-high score of 3,797, set in 1937, went unrivalled for decades. Then came the Budweisers. On March 12, 1958, at a weekly Masters League match in St. Louis, the stars aligned for one of the greatest team bowling performances in history. All five teammates performed well, even with a few missteps. By the end of the night, the team had recorded a 3,858, far surpassing the Hermann team’s record. Tom Hennessey and Ray Bluth both had perfect 300s during the three-game series. The team’s record would stand for nearly four decades.
