Don Ellis, a Texan hailing from Houston, showcased his bowling prowess with a tenth-place finish at the 1964 BPAA All-Star Tournament held in Dallas. His bowling journey commenced in 1947, with only a brief interruption during his service in the U.S. Army. Ellis was elected to the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Hall of Fame in 1981 in the Veterans category. From 1955 until 2016, he consistently graced the USBC Open Championships. Notably, Ellis was not just a proprietor in the Houston area; he was a distinguished champion with several association titles, including three Greater Houston USBC crowns, two Texas State USBC Association victories, and two Illinois State USBC triumphs. His remarkable achievements earned him well-deserved recognition in the Greater Houston USBC Hall of Fame in 1974 and the Texas State USBC Hall of Fame in 1985.
