ON THE LANES WITH SCHLITZ
Date: 1941
Schlitz Beer, long associated with camaraderie and American pastimes, proudly sponsored teams that carried its legacy to the lanes. The Schlitz Beer team from Milwaukee featured, clockwise from left, Bob Kelley, Bill Pace, Dan Steffee, Bob Chase, Jim Soptic and Glen Blakesley. Known as “The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous,” Schlitz was founded in 1849 and became the largest beer producer in the U.S. by the early 20th century. Its sponsorship of bowling teams reinforced its image as a symbol of quality, community and leisure.
