VARIPAPA ON FILM

Andy Varipapa began showcasing his bowling talents on film in 1934 when he appeared in Strikes and Spares, a 9-minute film on bowling from MGM. Varipapa appeared as himself and with the title “World’s Greatest Bowling Fixture.” The film was nominated for an Academy award for Best Short Subject (Novelty). Varipapa appeared in 16 more films over his career, demonstrating both trick shots and bowling basics.
