BOWLING & ACCESSIBILITY
Bowling is America’s top participatory sport, meaning more Americans will go bowling every year than play any other sport. An essential factor in achieving this distinction is making bowling accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. Because lanes and equipment can be easily modified, the bowling industry has been able to welcome wheelchair bowlers, blind bowlers, wounded veterans, bowlers with intellectual disabilities and others to the lanes. Bowling has been very popular in the Special Olympics, being touted for its social benefits as well as the physical. By easily adapting to all bowlers, the bowling industry has ensured it will remain a top sport for decades to come.
