At the 1954 Women’s International Bowling Congress tournament, bowlers were invited to personalize their badges. Women could display one side of a token, declaring they were either Republican or Democrat. (The 1954 midterm election was only a few months away.) As WIBC members reached across the lanes to meet fellow bowlers, they were also reaching across the aisle.
