This photograph from the 1952 American Bowling Congress (ABC) Tournament in Milwaukee captures the Pfeiffer Beer men’s bowling team from Detroit in their prime. From left to right, United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Hall of Famers Lou Sielaff, Therman Gibson, Bill Bunetta, Fred Bujack, George Young and Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) Hall of Famer Bill Williams led the team to an impressive 3,115 total, the seventh-highest score of the tournament. This record-breaking event spanned 85 days, drawing an unprecedented 147,504 attendees and solidifying Milwaukee’s status as a hub for bowling excellence.
